Cynthia's Story
Life
After graduating from high school in 1956, I entered Garland Junior College in Boston and graduated in 1958. My high school boyfriend, who was then an ensign in the United States Navy,and I married in 1960 and we moved to Newfoundland for two years, then back to Rhode Island, Texas, Rhode Island, and then to San Diego, which I hated with a passion. It was not one bit like Rhode Island, and I was pining to go back for years and years. I so missed the greenery, rain, autumn, etc.
We have three children, all girls, two of whom are married and live in France and Italy. Our youngest daughter is the mother of identical twin boys who will be five years old soon, and lives with her family in San Diego.
My husband retired as a naval aviator after serving 20plus years and will soon retire from his second job. ...Expand for more
We love Westerly and go back to visit frequently. Block Island is my favorite spot in Rhode Island.Our childhood family vacations were always spent on Block Island.
I am retired now from the medical transcription field, last job working from home, but decided Hunter and Austin were way more important than any job, so that was the end of my transcribing days.
Most days one can find me outside walking down at Mission Bay, shopping, having dinner with friends, and being with my family, whom I cherish.
We always had dogs, including a German Shepherd, and then later on miniature schnauzers. We are now pet free, which is rather liberating, although I still desperately miss them.
Retirement plans include traveling to the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands, and many other national parks
