Dale's Story
Life
Since my last post I have retired from the Harris County Sheriff's Office after 32 years. Nine months and 30 pounds later I rehired with the Sheriff's Office as a Part Time Deputy working 32 hours a week. Retirement did not last long haha! I am still happily married and have two grand children now, They are three and five years old.
My enjoyment is genealogy. As my friends know I am Spanish and I'm the first born in the US on my father's side. Different story on my mother's side( English / Scottish ). Their die hard Texans( as am I) going back to the Republic of Texas, WBTS and then some. I can go back to the 1300's on my mother's side, but my father's side peaked a ...Expand for more
real interest in 2005 when my oldest son started asking questions. To make a long story short. Three trips to Spain and one to Portugal put my father's family tree into the 1590's. I was able to obtain documents from churches and civil authorities. I'm still not through. Ancestry.com is a lot of help, but you still have to go to the source. I was aslo given Spanish citizenship in the EU by birth right. The consulate issued me a Spanish birth certificate and passport. I received my DNI card on first visit. I just need to learn Spanish haha!
