Dale Meltzer:

CLASS OF 2006
Prescott, AZ

Dale's Story

I came to tri-city after my family had just moved from Phoenix to Prescott. Went for all 4 years of High school. After I graduated I was certified as an EMT-Basic. I continued to attend college at YC for 1 year. I transferred to a small (very small like there was 400 of us I believe, its got like 10,000 people in the whole town) private school in Iowa (not graceland though) and stayed for 1 year. While at Maharishi University of Management (school I went to in Iowa) I did a lot of my core classes but I also started to get into some environmental studies. I also had the opportunity to go to Europe for a little while because of a quantum physics class I was in. So afterwards we spent a couple weeks roaming around Europe. We stayed in rural holland near the german border for a while (a few weeks), then went to Amsterdam and Paris. We intended to go to a couple of places in Italy but a train strike stopped us from being able to make it. But we spent christmas in Paris so I cant complain. That summer I did an internship at Omega Holistic I...Expand for more
nstitute in Rhinebeck New York. It was really awesome, got to live in the woods all summer and relax and it was basically living in a intentional community. The institute teaches classes on spirituality and art but also works as a retreat center for guests. But for us workers it was kind of like a intentional community/commune. It was an interesting time learning about watershed ecology after learning about the Omega Center for Sustainable Living. than transferred yet again after I did my internship in new york, to Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. I became very interested in evolutionary biology and ecology. I also gained interests in forestry, plant physiology, watershed management (am now certified in), environmental chemistry and natural cycles, forest carbon studies and a tiny bit of genetics. Really just environmental sciences in general. I have recently finished my Bachelors of Science in Environmental Studies at Evergreen. I intend to start my Masters degree in the Fall (2010), it will also be in Environmental Studies.
