Dan's Story
Life
Been in the Army, worked in the computer/engineering/insurance/entertainment/medical industries and now am working for Hewlett-Packard and the Navy as a contractor. I moved back into the house I grew up in a couple years ago (Thought I would have gotten away from this place by now!). Have a wonderful daughter and am officially divorced (YAY!!!). Got my recording studio in my house and even managed to get a CD made although I'm starting to get away from the music world. Derek Thompson - I've been trying to get in touch with you for 15 years! Where are you?????? :)
Right now I'm doing web design and have a Web Consulting business that I run part time to suppliment my day work. To say I've become a work-a-holic is an understatement. DOH!
College
Was a commuter at college. Started taking Mechanical Engineering Technologies and was on the Solar Car Team up at NHTI in Concord in 90-91. Got burned out after the first year, yeah Statics and Strengths will do that to most people. Heck we had over an 80% dropout rate in that class. After I got back from the Army, I started up a new degree in Computer Engineering Technologies, but ran out of funds and quite frankly wasn't getting as much out of it as I should have. I quickly found out that working a 40+ hour week plus doing a full time degree does...Expand for more

Military
Did Basic at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO (Or as we called it, "Fort Lost In The Woods, Misery"). Then went to Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX for AIT. Graduated top of my class as a MANPADS Crewmember (That's a Stinger Missile Gunner for you civilians). Then went to my regular duty station with C. Co. 3/172 Inf (Mtn) in Lebanon, NH. Was there for only a couple years when the company mission changed from a Combat Support Company to a Light Infantry unit. I was given a choice of going back for secondary MOS training as an 11B (infantry) at Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA or reworking my contract. Ended up swapping my contract from a 6x2 to a 2x6 after that and did the rest of my time as IRR as I really wasn't in the mood to go on another training excusion. I was totally bummed when the CM changed because I thoroughly enjoyed being a Stinger Gunner. We had a bunch of really good guys who, even though I was low man on the totem pole and got picked on, were ultimately really good guys to work with. The one thing I regret is not staying in touch with many of my fellow soldiers that I had started friendships with over the time I spent training. I would love to get back in touch with Tony Flamino and Tony Vondal from D. Battery at Ft. Bliss! Those guys were the best!
