Dana's Story
Life
Since graduation, I've held a few jobs, but my most rewarding is being a mom to my two not-so-little boys David (born Jan '99) and Nikolai (born Nov '99). No, these dates are not typo's. I was a stay-at-home mom for 7 years and have been happily married to David Stier (Class of '86) since May 1992. I enjoy cross-stitch, reading and watching hockey, although in Chi-town, hockey was not a big thing until they won the Cup in 2010 (thank the Good Lord for satellite and NHL Center-Ice packages). I have become a huge hockey fan over the years. We even have a picture of Dave, in a wheelchair with a dislocated collar bone, hoisting Lord Stanley's Cup (1998 Championship). I have Red Wings pix and paraphernalia all over my office. They indulge me. Dave and I also keep busy in our Youth Ministry at our church. He's a Youth Director and the teens keep us hopping. Since moving to Illinois (Joliet, Plainfield), and now that both boys are in school full time, we decided it was time for me to start looking for another job. Within a week I became the secretary at another...Expand for more
church in the area. It's great working again. It's challenging trying to keep everything organized and rewarding at the same time when I feel I've done well. God truly is good, all the time. We found out in November of 2010 that God truly has a sense of humor. Alexei Gabriel, our third and FINAL child, was born on July 7, 2011 and is quite a handful. So different having a child when you're older, but I wouldn't give him up for the world. He's absolutely adored by his big brothers and his "aunts" and "uncles" in our student ministry, and honorary "grandparents" in the church. Dave graduated from Liberty University in May 2010 with a Bachelor's Degree in Theology, and will eventually work toward getting a degree in Christian Counseling. He is also working toward ordination. Our church has left the ELCA and is now a part of LCMC (Lutheran Churches in Mission for Christ). Since we agree MUCH more with the theology behind this organization, ordination is now in the picture for him. Yikes! Not what I expected when I married a chef in 1992!
