Daniel's Story
Life
My Spouse
I met my wife while chatting on the Internet one day. We met each other on the Net, but talked on the phone the next day, and then every day (except 2 or 3) from November 3, 1997 to today (September 11, 2008).
My Kids
Jack, born 5/6/2002, amazing boy, born with bilateral hearing loss, wears hearing aids, is the star student in his first grade class, is awesome at soccer and t-ball, underestimates how good he is at almost everything, the best big brother Nick and Luke could ever have
Nicholas, born 5/13/2004, another amazing boy, no hearing loss, listens pretty well, is the mama's boy in the family and we're better for it, I think, is too smart for pre-K :) so he has to wait another year, and will go straight into kindergarten, plays a mean game of basketball (in real-life) and tennis (on the Wii). Trying to get him to play t-ball, as dad is probably going to get involved with coaching next year
Luke, born 2/13/2007, yet another amazing boy, both with bilateral hearing loss, this time severe-to-profound, had cochlear implant surgery (right ear) and was the 500th implant done at St. Louis Children's Hospital (set to celebra...Expand for more
te that fact at the Big Balloon Race in Forest Park, St. Louis, on September 20, 2008, wears a hearing aid in his other ear, starting to say some words, laughs when we say no to him - oh, that's great! Best chance we have at a southpaw (i.e. lefty) pitcher, although he holds the spoon, fork and cup in his right hand, so I'm not so sure!
My Pet
Dunkin, a 40 pound beagle mix, named after the donuts, of course, which we can't seem to get ANYWHERE near St. Louis! Dunkin's over 11 now, but still loves to run, play, and shed all over the house (sorry Amy). We picked him up at the Jersey Shore Animal Center, a non-euthanizing animal shelter in either Brick or Toms River, NJ
My Job
Opened my own pediatric practice in 2005. Has about 1800 patients right now and growing. Kind of fun practicing medicine again. Being a pediatrician is hard, and not because of the kids, if you know what I mean, fellow parents.
In memory of Daniel Morra, my dad
