Danielle's Story

Life Well, as many of you know I left Fort Bragg soon after high school. I felt as if I needed to get away from some not so happy things. I moved to Southern California. I married soon after and I had two beautiful daughters. They are truely the pride of my life! Their father pasted away a few years back now. I decided to return to college and get my educatiion that I truely new was important. I knew that if I wanted my children to go that I had to set the example. I graduated college with high honors and became emplyed as a child/family specialist for an organization that deals with foster children whom reside in group and/or foster homes. I love it! Although I am still the same person that I was back in high school yet I have changed so much!! I have become a strong woman who is proud of who I have become and looks forward to the future! School If I had the chance to do high school all over again I really don't think that I would. It is because of some of the experiences that I went through during this time in my life that has taught me some of my biggest life lessons. Crushes? well there were a few of those, but do I really want to disclose those.... NO! My most inspiring teacher had to be Mrs. V. She was such a neat woman. She supported us both emotionally and academically. She gave us a way to vent out about some of the personal things that so many high schoolers go through. This was such a big help. Although I do have some nice memories of high school, most of my fondest memories of this time were from my life outside of school. I had friends who gave me some amazing support during some very difficult times in my life. They were true friends. I will always be grateful for what they gave to me. They gave me the opportunity to laugh and be silly. I remember dancing on a pool table with Susan as we sang to the Garth song "I got friends in low places". I remember the time that we all camped out in Carla's yard. There were friends fighting and everyone seemed to be doing what they weren't suppose to. Yet in the end we all had fun. ember Chris and I and the many afternoons that we spent outside talking about everything and anything. There were the times we hung out at Goodies in order to kick back. There was the time we went to San Fran and Liz and I recorded our own demo tape. Oh and the many many many hours we spent hanging out at the Popcorn factory doing absolutly nothing but laughing and having a great time. I do remember some not so fun times also, a broken heart and friends passing away. Yet, I have to believe that no matter how much pain I felt at those times I had to feel it in order to learn the lessons that I needed for the rest of my life. I instead chose to remember the wonderful times that I had. Those are the things that make me smile when I look back at my high school days! College College for me was a real eye opener. I realized that not all school scenes are the same as Fort Bragg. That there really is a completly different world out here. I attended school in Southern California and obtained my BA in Sociology. I had the opprtunity to meet some amazing people. People who I still call my best friends. I enjoyed the trips that we went on to places such as Washington DC and Florida. What a blast! College for me was my opportunity to grow in a manner that allowed me to become the person that I am today. Workplace I am now working as a child/family specialist for a organization that deals with children who have been placed into the foster care system. Either a foster and/or group home. I enjoy this job because I am not stuck in a cube or office. Although I do have one I don't spend much time there. I spend most of my time out in the field dealing with the families that I am trying to help. This is such a rewarding job because I have the opportunity to help others. This is such a wonderful feeling, to get paid for what i enjoy doing anyway. This is a long way from were I starting my employment history. I can still remember working as a maid in high school for a local lodge. Although I met some neat people it was not the dream job. Military None
