Danny's Story

Life Kids are all grown up and have kids, which makes me a grandpa 6 times over. Planning to retire in the near future and become a missionary in the Philippines, the island of Mindanao, General Santos City. We will live in a Muslim community and work directly with them. We have a rice feeding program in place right now having partnered with Lanton Alliance Fellowship. Our ministry is called Naomi's Heart and for a time will be an extension of Cebu Missionary Foundation until we can get our foundation certification. Workplace After spending 7 years in the Navy, 5 of which was sea duty, I got a job working for the Springfield News-Sun. I truly am glad to be out of that hole. I worked for two years in construction as an assistant site manager for a national builder. I helped oversee the building of production facitlities in Sayre, Pa., Valparaiso, Indiana and another in Zanesville, Ohio. Each site was unique to our company who as a rule built warehouses. The job I presently have is the greatest thing that has happened to me. I fell into the perfect job working at Autologic Information International. They build and repair imaging equipment that produces either a negative or a plate that can go straitght to a printing press. I worked on this equipment while at the News-Sun, it's just that I get paid a lot better now to run around fixing other peoples equipment. Ironically, I have had to visit the News-Sun on several occasions to install and repair their equipment. We have been aquired ...Expand for more
by AGFA and now I am learning new equipment and traveling more to install/repair that equipment also. Life is good. Even though the pace is getting much more hectic these days with a new region to cover. I still am the primary technician for all of Ohio, I am now covering eastern Indiana, northern Kentucky, and at times western PA. There are 2 newspaper service technicians that cover a small area of 50 states and none of us is bored. Still keep in contact with a few of our classmates on a regular basis, via e-mail and hope we can get together again. Military I spent a mere 6 years 10 months and 21 days in the Navy. I enlisted (a draft notice will make you do that) for six years as to not throw away the schooling that I was drafted away from. I spent two years in a Technical School when I received my draft notice. I went to Navy Schools in San Diego, San Francisco, and Norfolk, Va. I served on two ships, the USS Henry W. Tucker DD=875 out of San Diego, which was decommissioned in December 1973. I was privileged to have served upon her during our conflict in sunny Southeast Asia from June 1972 until January 1973. Aboard the USS Whipple FF(DE)-1062 from January 1974 until I was discharged in April 1977. I made two West Pacs on this ship that was home ported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. I was married and had my son at the Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego. Unfortunately I had to leave for Viet Nam a few months later and missed out on a lot of good things that he learned while I was away.
