Darlene's Story
Life
After graduation in 1961, I attended a private college for 3 years. During this time I worked in the Loan Dept. of Union Bank and received my diploma from Sawyer School of Business in Los Angeles.
I am married to Dr. Wali whom I met at General hospital (now known as LAC+USC Medical Center) in Los Angeles and between us we have 5 boys, 4 granddaughters and 1 grandson. All 5 of our sons graduated from college with Bachelors - Masters degrees with one finishing his Ph.D. and are thankfully gainfully employed. I worked for the County of Los Angeles, Department of Health Services for 24 years. I began in the Department of Pharmacy in Administration and retired March 31, 20002 from the Corporate Offices of the Department as Executive Assistant to the Director of Health Services. I enjoyed my position very much but when I felt it was time to retire, I was happy to relinquish the ropes to someone else and have enjoyed traveling and doing things that needed to be done as well as "fun things" that I like to do.
I have been keeping in touch with several Pirates and enjoy hearing from them. It is wonderful to reestablish communication with friends with whom lifelong bonds were developed.
