Darlene's Story
Life
I met my wonderful husband of 43 years while my brother was serving in the Army. We moved around for the first few years of our marriage, then finally settled in Carpentersville, IL where we stayed for 34 years. In 2005 we retired and moved to a very small town in Shepherd, Texas. We bought a nice little piece of heaven, located on 8 wooded acres.
Our Pets..
When we moved to Shepherd, the house came with a dog!! It had been dropped off, and was in need of a loving home. We also have a little pomeranian we call Peanut. A very spoiled little dog. And since we are out in the country, and snakes are all ...Expand for more
around, we have 4 (outdoor)cats, and they do a very good job of keeping the snakes away.
Our Kids
We were blessed with 3 children, our oldest, John is a Sargent in the Army, stationed in Ft. Sill, OK. He has been home for almost a year after serving in Iraq. Our daughter Karen lives in Texas also, and is close enough that we see her frequently. And our youngest son, Bob, is still living in Joliet, IL.. All are married, and collectively they have given us 10 grandchildren.
My Job
I am a retired Legal Secretary. I am now working a part time job as the Administrator of the Shepherd Chamber of Commerce.
