Daron's Story
Life
Its been over 23 years and I haven't talked to or seen anyone from "81". To make a very long story short, I went and did what I said I would do when I was at LAHS. I am a Senior Engineer/Scientist on the Space Shuttle Program specializing in fluid, mechanical and propulsion systems. I have been on the Program since the day after Grad Night (having gone right from the bus from Disneyland to Rockwell's Space Division Personnel Office to process in). I have been fortunate enough to have supported the builds of Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis and the Endeavour. Sadly, I was out on the boats recovery and IDing Challenge weckage. roulsion oficer and the CAPCOM was a good friend of mine. I was also hoping to see the entry plasma from my backyard. Long Story short of it I was spent 88 days out of 100 in east Texas and West Louisana at the collection site IDing unidentifiable wreckage and crew personal effects. I was given a special award by Sean O'keefe the NASA Chief Administrator at the Nation Air and Space Museum. Maybe you remember our short lived Model Rocket Club? I have come a long ways from my little Estes Rockets to the Space Shuttle Orbiter. I have had lots of fun and have many stories to tell.
