Darwin's Story

Life I am originally from New York City and I have lived in the San Francisco bay area, Charlotte, North Carolina, and now northern Virginia. I worked twenty-two months for Midway Airlines and now twenty-five years with United Airlines. Formerly I worked in the supply chain management department and currently work as an Strategic Key Account Manager in cargo sales. While living in the San Francisco bay area, however, I earned an Associates degree in Travel and Tourism from Chabot College in Hayward California and operated a home-based travel business. I focused my venture in two areas: African heritage tours to northeastern Brazil, and cruises to the Caribbean. rism. In 2008 I earned a Master's degree in Tourism Administration from The George Washington University. I am currently mapping out a three-tiered plan for my future. The short-term goal (one to five years) is to transition in strategic planning for new destination for United Airlines. The intermediate goal (five to ten years) is to either work, or consult, for a foreign tourist board. Preferably the Brazilian tourist board since I am conversational in Portuguese. The long-term (ten to fifteen years) is to plan for my working retirement which is to own a small hotel (pousada as it is known in Brazil). I love to travel and I have visited Rome, Caldas Novas, Salvador, Recife, Maceio, Fortaleza, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, Japan, Hong Kong, Dakar Senegal, Cape Town, and Durban South Africa. I hope that I can continue to travel and perhaps bring some of you along.
