dave's Story

Find me on the Faceb**k and I'll talk I am not listed, I see, on the class roster of 1975, may hap be for good reason; I can not say one way or another. The decision was not mine. I had arrived during the Christmas Season of '74. It was, at first; I'd thought, only to be for the holiday. I had come up to see a student; the sister of a girlfriend, a Miss Brown. I ended up staying there, becoming a student for what was suppose to be, half semester as a Junior than follow on a full year as a Senior. School was interesting to say the least. Half a day Academics than Half again Vocational. I did learn; Honest I did. I still remember Mrs. Pike Having me re-mop a patients room, just because of the way I'd mopped the corner. I was asked to leave Lauralbrook-- Christmas season of '75 for reasons I shall not disclose, yet some may know; but it is up to only one person to tell that story, not I. I did come to see the class of '75 walk across the isle, and congratulate all and left. Later that evening I was able to reconcile with they whom I have oft times wondered where did they go, and where are they now. I have one regret, the banishment, it should have been all mine, not shared; for what had occurred was my fault .... I knew full well what I was doing. Married by October of '75, My first wife convinced me to join the Army. So, in Jan of 76 off I went, but by April of 1977 she decided that I was not for her, and filed for divorce. March of '78 she passed over to "All Fathers" care; and I now a widower at the age of 22. My current wife of 34 yrs. I meet in Heidelberg Germany, We've been blessed with (2) daughters, and they themselves have blessed me with grand, and great-grand (Oldest married into a ready made). many(5 yrs.) Egypt(1yr) {see MFO Sinai}. and various assignments in the US. I transferred from Active Army in '92 and joined the Army Reserves. Between October of '92 and present I've worked in MFG, Construction, Facilities Maintenance, and called up twice (9/11 & Iraqi Freedom). I did manage to retire from the Army with 20 yrs. I've been told I have eclectic tastes, and a varied education, and I do find it nearly imposable to settle on one area of study. So I currently continue to educate myself in those subjects that interest me, and I have yet to grow up. Yes I suffer from 'Peter Pan' Syndrome, the photo should tell. For rest, I perform with an 'Old West' reenactment group." Gold Canyon Gunfighters". Oh, what brought me here? I've custody of (2) grandchildren and I was looking for a list of publications by our English teacher Mrs. Edwards. and found Miss Vicky Webb. Sent her a short note and, a surprise to me, received a response. And that, has brought me here, to trigger memories, yes I know that some may be painful, but I too shall suffer as well. But some of you when I see your name, it evoke a spark of memory, of a walk thru the canyon on a Sabbath day, or was it a conversation while in line for was it lunch, or dinner, no, breakfast? That's it, yes. No, it was something said while walking across the foot bridge between the dorm and Sanitarium; no the Chapel . No, wait a minute it was when we were canning all those blackberries. yes, that's it, the cannery. No? was it....? do you know? Will you tell me? What is posted here is what has been awakened by a reply to an email sent and I thank Vicky for that. For any and all who wish, look for me at face book for I'll not upgrade here to respond to any missives, look for the black and white character serving a shot. That 'ill be me.
