Still cheer for the Stampeders but got to love those Oilers.
Three of my influential teachers:
Walter Holt. Social 10&30. ( 10M. all boys ).He was my track coach for three years.Spending 3 afternoons with him every school week he became as much a friend as he was a teacher and coach.I remember the first day of class in social10 his first words went something like this. Boys we are going to treat this class like a football game,we will start on the 55 yard line
If you behave and cooperate I will give you 10 yards, but if you goof off and don’t pay attention I will.take away 10 yards. If I back you up to the goal line you had better.watch out.It is a small world:Walter grew up in Lethbridge he played hockey with my broth...Expand for more
er-in-law Robert Kirkpatrick. Roberts cousin is the lovely Norah Kirkham ( class of66 -12T ).
I.understand after he left Wisewood he became the vice principal at Lord Beaverbrook high.
Norman Neame. Biology 30
Mr Neame had BSc. In Agriculture from the UofA. Because it was my aspiration to take Ag we talked many times about the program. He loaned me several of his text books from courses he took and also advised me on my science fair project. The 2019 alumni magazine from the UofA recorded his passing in the obituary section.
Louise Bentall was my lab partner( lucky me ).
Bob Morrison. English. 20
Mr. Morrison came to Wisewood from the steel industry in Pittsburg. He was always positive about everything. In class he would not only teach the course material but we would have class discussions life.
After graduation in 1971 I worked as District Agriculturist in Ponoka /Rimbey and I had season tickets to the Stampeders. I would drive down to McKnight Blvd., park then walk down to the stadium past the Dino’s practice field. Mr. Morrison was part of Dino’s coaching staff. He remembered me and so we would talk for a few minutes each game.
Fall of 1971 went to my first Grey Cup, in Vancouver, Stamps beat the Argos.
Still cheer for the Stampeders but got to love those Oilers.
