Dave's Story
Life
I was with Hannibal-LaGrange College(now University) for eighteen years in the Office of Institutional Advancement. My work was in the area of fund raising and estate planning. Following three years in the Army I attended mortuary school in Indiana and spent several years in the funeral industry as an embalmer, funeral director, and manager. I completed my bachelor degree at HLG and a Masters in Management from Webster University in St. Louis. I am married to Dorothy (Griffen) and have two married daughters, Melissa Swaringim in O'Fallon, MO and Sara Briggs in Hannibal. Dorothy and I have six grandchildren. hurch and volunteer work with United Way, WGCA radio, NEMO Community Foundation, Hannibal Concert Association, Riverside Cemetery Board, and others. I enjoy outdoor sports such as fishing, hunting, boating, and camping. I enjoy music and have led at church and in revival meetings in the area. I have been in Hannibal all but twelve years of my life, those years being spent in the United States Army, and in the funeral business in Macon, and Elsberry, MO. I am currently Executive Director of Douglass Community Services, Inc. in Hannibal. We have several programs, the largest of which is Head Start and we cover eight counties in Northeast Mo.
