Dave's Story

Life School: I spent my early years at Grace Christian School. Somewhere around the end of my Sophomore year of high school, I saw the light and left Phoenix Christian high school and spent my Junior year at Alhambra. It wasn't quite the ghetto then that it has become. Anywho, after high school I took some computer networking courses off and on at Glendale Community College from January 1993 until December of 2002. I'm on the 20something year plan. Slave Labor: I spent 10 years working in the printing industry operating large format commercial printing presses. In 1998 I left the printing industry and began working for a small internet provider. I cut my "dot com" teeth there for 4 months and in January of 1999 I began working for one of the Big Dogs of the era, MindSpring. In February of 2000 MindSpring and Earthlink merged but kept the name Earthlink. I threatened to leave Earthlink for the next 3 years while working as a Team Lead in the Broadband Network Support Department. In December of 2002, Earthlink finally took me seriously and closed their local office. Persistence pays. At that time I started my own business doing a variety of things, not the least of which was taking photos of auto races. It was a lot of fun and paid my rent and was great while it lasted. I had enough cash stashed away that I was able to do this for about a year before I had to go back to a real job. In November of 2003 I started working for a marketing company as a printing production consultant. I now manage all of the printing and production operation...Expand for more
s for said company. It's a decent job, but I still dream of making my own hours and taking vacations when *I* decide I've worked enough to deserve one. Naughty (not really) Pleasures: In my spare time I love going up to the high country to hike and camp. I'm an avid auto racing fan (Road courses - none of this NASCAR crap!) and sometimes try my hand as a driver in Autocross events. There is certainly no money in Autocross and I doubt I'll ever make a name for myself in racing, but it's all about fun, people! Life: In December of 1997 I was blessed with the greatest gift ever - I became the proud papa of my first and only child. Everyone says your life changes when you become a parent. My life changed, but not in the ways I had expected. The changes for me were more about my outlook and perception of everything around me. Parenthood is one of the coolest things on the planet, and I would highly recommend it to anyone contemplating it. Somewhere around September of 2003 I decided being a bachelor was underrated and was really enjoying being single when out of the blue, I met the coolest person ever. I recognized I was facing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to improve my overall quality of life, so I asked her to marry me. We eloped in August of 2004 and then had an official ceremony in November of 2005. We were "married" at the zoo by one of my best friends. How cool is that?!? Definitely one of the best days of my life. Anyway, that's about all there is. If anything changes I'll update my profile when I get around to it (Jen!).
