David's Story
Life:
My wife's name is Debbie.
I was my wife's youth leader. I met her at Oak Brook Community Church (formerly Oak Brook Christain Center). I didn't start dating her until about 1994. I have known Debbie since about 1980.

School
I spent my freshman and sophomore years at Oak Park River Forest High School. I was on the Wrestling Team both years.
I was transferred to Riverside Brookfield High School for my Junior and Senior years. I was on the wrestling team both years and football my Junior year.
I played baseball outside of school (my favorite sport).
There was a massive difference in student size between R.B. and OPRF, that's for sure. OPRF, you could meet someone new every day. R.B., you knew almost everyone. I wish we had an email in high school; I would have kept in touch with many more people from OPRF.
During my H.S. years, I was a Worship Leader and Youth Leader with my Oak Brook Christian Center youth group. I also toured during the summers with our youth group choir, doing musicals and other ministry projects. Most of my close friends were from my church. I dated the same girl from church for most of H.S.

Didn't go to school right away after H.S.
After taking the ACT/SAT, my Dad told me that the scores basically told him I would flunk out of college. I decided that wasn't going to be my story.
I started working to save money to go to school. I found out quickly that it wasn't going to work.
Went to Evangel College for three years. Those three years of college have some of the most incredible memories. I majored in Computer Science. I was pretty active in many aspects of college.
I decided to transfer to Illinois State University. I wanted to get more experience and computer training. That didn't happen. I couldn't stand taking classes like Animal Behavior! How is that going to help me be a better computer scientist?
I transferred to DeVry to receive my B.S. in Computer Information Systems. There's not much to do there but study. I worked full time and went to school full time. I'm glad that it only lasted about two years.
Flunking out of college wasn't my story, as my Dad told me the College entrance exams told him. I graduated with honors and was on the National Dean's List! Far from what I did in H.S., I love proving people's false opinions of me wrong.
