David's Story
Life
Married 49 years to former Iris White, Ribault High School, class of 1972. We have two children, Kyle and Rachel, born the same day four years apart, July 13, 1979 and July 13, 1983, respectively. Kyle graduated George Mason University in 2002, works and lives in Denver, CO, and is married to Ann Kendrick Woolford Julian. Rachel graduated from Virginia Tech on May 14, 2005, earning two degrees in four years. She is married Christopher Blevins and works and resides in the Washington, DC area. We have 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter. Iris and I reside in Holmes Beach, Anna Maria Island, FL and have a second home in Virginia Beach, VA

Job responsibilities included workplace safety for 30,000 employees and operations safety compliant with federal regulations throughout 37,000 track-miles of railroad, public safety, infrastructure security, and environmental protection including industrial hygiene and hazardous materials transportation safety & emergency response. Years of employment: 45; Transferred 13 times during this period, including locations of Jacksonville; Atlanta (twice); Savannah; Washington, DC (3 times); New York City; Mobile; Detroit; Roanoke, and Norfolk (twice). Member of National Safety Council and gained Norfolk Southern’s qualified acceptance into the world-class performance membership of its Campbell Institute Center of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).
Prior Norfolk Southern career positions include President, Automotive and Supply Chain Services overseeing the Norfolk Southern $1 billion per year Automotive industry sector business unit, a $450 million per year trucking subsidiary Triple Crown Services, TransWorks IT logistics subsidiary, and Modalgistics supply chain consulting and analytics group; Regional Director, Eastern Region leading 16 district sales & marketing offices located in the eastern U.S. and Canada. Amongst several other positions held, started career in the mechanical department, servicing locomotives. Retired in 2016.
