David's Story
Life
I am a Professor at East Stroudsburg University in the Physics Department. I have three adopted children ages 21, 18 and 17, I was recently Married (July 19, 2011) to Carolyn Carney after a wonderful whirlwind romance. I am also a student at Union Theological Seminary (Part time).
Play
I am still active in choirs (Tenor I) and do some recording and mixing of music (especially choirs). I like to ride a Motorcycle in the Pocono Mountains and want to get back into flying (In the past I have flow single engine antique aircraft and gliders). I am an active Hiker and like climbing the mountains in the NE of the USA. Do some travel for conferences (Italy, Croatia, Switzerland, Hawaii, etc. ) I would like to do a few more plays, especially if they are musicals.
College/Degrees
Went straight from Undergraduate through PhD at Cornell University. As both an undergraduate and graduate student I was active in Eco-Justice task force as part of the United Ministries in Higher Education. This focused on issues involving faith, economics, environmental issues and distributive justice. As a fresh...Expand for more
man I was interested in theological seminary, but that did not pan out. What I did was take a post-doctoral position at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. After working in industry for a while I earned an MBA from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science.
Work
I worked at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory for a while, a discovered that BIG science wasn't for me (to much politics!). I consulted for a while and then ended up in Industry designing electrical stuff for aircraft. I worked my way up to the lowest tier of management. Where I discovered that I HATE MANAGEMENT! So I went back to college (which I loved) but this time as a professor. I have a position as a Full professor here at East Stroudsburg University. Here at ESU we have a heavy teaching load, so most of my day is spent teaching. I do some research in electromagnetics (radio waves). I have also been participating in the Science-Religion dialog through groups like Metanexus. ESU is small enough that you get to know a lot of faculty in other areas, which is GREAT FUN! Don't get me started or I can bore you for hours...
