David's Story
Now
Working with the Sacramento Electric Vehicle Association after 35 years of teaching. Responsible for Education & Marketing of Plugin EVs, website (SacEVa.org), LinkedIn, and print media at regional events designed to show that PEVs are available now, they are affordable (when lifetime cost of ownership and return on investment are understood), and there are relatively few restrictions to their everyday use for nearly all classes of drivers. Life
Taught at Park Jr Hi, Antioch, CA 75-84 and Kerr Middle School, Elk Grove, CA 84-2010 (retired after 35 years to teaching). Math, History, Yearbook, Photography, Publications, Computer Applications. Have a son and daughter (son is a Class A professional golfer working at Wasserman Sports marketing In Raleigh, NC and daughter works for Broadway Sacramento in marketing and PR).. njoyed being part of so many lives. Don't forget your "old" teacher! Gave up on moving to Canada (Vancouver Island), and sold our home in Nanaimo after discovering that BC doesn't want old Americans or teachers.
School
Attended Colton High the first half of my freshman year (1966) and moved to Kennedy High in Sacramento for the rest of high school. State ranked in cross-country and track, scholarships, chose UC Davis. Attended 1970 to 1975, including teaching credential 5th year (PoliSci-Far Eastern Studies, Chinese History minor, Math/Chem minor). First grad to teach at Kennedy High, but took job in Antioch. Married Susan while there, two children born, and moved to Elk Grove after 9 years teaching. Still live in Elk Grove.
Working in education has a way of knocking down those with extra abilities and those who are different. Despite my frustrations, I am thrilled to have been such a positive influence on so many lives. I still hear from many of you years after you have moved on. Don't hesitate to write me and say hi.
