David's Story
Life
In 1978, my Dad transferred to Orange Park, FL (US NAVY). After a lucrative career at Sizzler Steakhouse and then Red Lobster in Orange Park, I joined the Navy and traveled to San Diego where I learned to be a Hospital Corpsman, and an Advanced Laboratory Technician. After a brief stint (4 years) on Okinawa, I applied for a commissioning program in Nursing, and went to Tallahassee, Florida to Nursing school. I was commissioned as a Naval Officer and was stationed in Jacksonville, FL again. Meanwhile, my wife Cheryl and son Brandon were soon joined by three other boys, T.J., Spencer and Nickolas. After graduate school in Bethesda, MD and national certification and licensure as a CRNA, (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist), I was stationed in Portsmouth, VA for 2 years, during which I was deployed to Haiti for a humanitarian mission. After 6 months of 120 degree heat, I returned to the US and requested to be transferred to Naples, Italy. We stayed there three years, then I retired from the Navy (after 23 short years) and returned to the good ol' USA! I am now a CRNA in Eastern Tennessee, and owner of an Anesthesia group here. In that regard, I hope I never have to see any of you again (in the operating room), but if I do, It will be a pleasure!
