Dawn's Story

Life Hey guys, hope everyone is well. OK, so what have I been doing? Well, I was married for several years to a guy from YCHS, and am now happily divorced!!! I was blessed with 3 beautiful girls Whitney (17), Kristina (16), and Jessica (15)-all of whom attend MHS now, and a cat named Spaz. The cat thinks he's human, and the kids act like animals...go figure. I'm looking forward to Whitney graduating high school this year, and keeping my fingers crossed that Kristina & Jessica don't suffer too much living down Whitney's troublemaking reputation throughout the remainder of their high-school careers! For those of you who remember me in high school, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! I have no life, haha, as I work full-time, attend school full-time, transport the girls to softball and soccer practices and games, and deal with the never-ending chaos of teenaged crisis lol. When I do have free time, you can usually find me at Arco Arena screaming and yelling for the Sacramento Kings, or at the Yuba City Racquet Club ignoring what I'm supposed to be doing 'cause I'm watching a Kings game. I attended Yuba College and received 3 AS degrees in Human Services; Chemical Dependency Counseling; and Chemical Dependency Awareness; as well as an AA in General Education. I also received 2 Certificates of Training in Chemical Dependency stuff. Now I am attending Chapman University in Yuba City, working on my Bachelors in Social Science with emphasis in Psychology, Sociology, and Criminal Justice. I only have a year to go...yeaaaaa...Expand for more
a! I haven't decided if I will go on for my Masters or not. Based on the student loans I owe now, probably not...lol. I quit my job on March 1st...and man was I happy...for about 5 minutes, then panick set in lol. I was working in a prison as a Correctional Officer (that would be the one I quit), but with everyting else going on and being a single parent, the 70 hours a week was killing me. I was lucky enough to begin a new job 5 days later at a residential drug and alcohol treatment facility in Linda. Though it was a drastic pay cut, it will get me through until I graduate...and it's graveyard so I can do my homework at work...giving me more time with my kids. In the summer-well-in the summer we make time. We basically live at Collins Lake--camping is our number 1 priority; or taking trips to the LA area so we can hit the beaches. I actually got rescued at Malibu Beach last summer...red flag day, really strong riptides, rocks, etc. I was in no danger, but apparently the lifeguard thought I was out too far. It was all good...I let him pull me in haha. I have escaped this town a few times...always end up back here though for some reason. I've been back here in Marysville since 1999, though I've lived in Long Beach, Phoenix, and Anchorage. I would really love to go back to Alaska when my girls are grown--the northern lights are awesome. Alaska is awesome. Getting charged by a bull moose however was not awesome lol. OK, my rambling is boring me, so It's time to go. I hope everyone is happy and healthy, and see ya later!
