Dawn's Story
Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. Let me update you on how the last 27 years have gone. 27 years? Man it doesn't seem like that long!
Well,I now live in a tiny town in Northeast Ohio. It's about a 6 hour drive to DC from here. The two rival high school football teams are the Massillon Tigers & the McKinley Bulldogs. Not funny to people around here but to me it is quite amusing since NBJ was the Tigers and I moved to Churchill in my senior year and that is the Bulldogs. I live in Tigertown USA! Footbal is the most important thing here is our town. We have a population of 30,000 but on the Mass./McK. game day, our town almost triples in population. You would be amazed at the high school stadium here. I was shocked! You can see for yourself on the website Massillon Tiger Stadium, Massillon, Ohio. The high school is called Washington High School and the stadium is Paul Brown Stadium (as in Paul Brown the founder of football as we know it...and some teams, The sucky Clev. Browns & Cinn. Bengals)
I work as a bartender at night and for the professional football team here in Canton near the Football Hall of Fame. (like I said, it is a football world here) I am the dance team director, marketing & promotions asst., gameday asst. director, and the team mascot at all communities functions. I am currently on the cover of the local phonebook but no one knows it's me in the costume. My youngest daughter is with me so that is how people have recognized us. It has been a great job and I have had the opportunity to meet many Pro football players and attend many pro football functions here in the area. Hall of Fame week is crazy here but I love it!!!! This year I won't be doing the dance team because doing game day ops. takes too much time and I am tired of being at the dance studio or stadium every night until 11 pm-midnight and listening to 18-20 y.o. complaining about how bad their lives are. They're tired, they hate their boyfriends, their jobs suck, they hate school, etc. blah, blah, blah, hahaha! Ah, to be young again! If they only knew!!!
Before living here, I was living in VA for about 5 years working for the USMC and before that I was at Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base, CA for 13 years with my now ex-husband. I have been living here for the last 6 years.
I have 5 kids & two cats. Christopher turned 25 on 12/24/08 ,lives in SC, works for Shaw/Duke Po...Expand for more
wer and is a fireman/paramedic; Philip is 22, in the Navy stationed overseas on the USS Patriot & is married to a beautiful Japanese girl named Azusa. They live in Sasebo, Japan but are planning on moving to Tokyo soon. He is a red head so I am looking forward to seeing what my future grandkids will look like. Japanese with red hair...cute! :-)!!!Elizabeth is 19, goes to the Univ.of S.Carolina (Full scholarship! Thank GOD! WooHoo!)and is majoring in English with a minor in Theater; Victoria (Tori) is 18 and a senior in HS and is planning on joining the USMC like her dad. Katherine(Kate), the "baby", is 12. She is in 6th grade and goes to Catholic school. I want the best education for her that $ can buy so Catholic school is it! She is also involved in the local theater. She was recently in a pageant for Miss Pre-Teen Ohio and came in 6th place out of about 500 girls that entered. She is now eligible for the National Teen Title. The top 10 girls from every state get to enter. I don't have grandchildren yet but I am looking forward to that day whenever it may be!
I just got re-married to a wonderful guy that I met while I was working for the USMC. He was stationed at Quantico, VA with the Presidential Helicopter Squadron,(HMX). That is the helicopter that lands on the White House lawn and travels all over the world with the President. He flew with Pres. Clinton and W. He now works for USAirways now so we have the opportunity to travel all the time. I hate the cold & the snow so I am usually headed south as often as I can when it gets cold. I try to go to Aruba/Puerto Rico/St.Thomas whenever I get a chance. USAirways flies direct from Charlotte to those places and I don't have to pay for airfare, lucky me, so why not! I get to see Christopher & Elizabeth often too! We try and go to Disneyworld often too (March 1-8,2009) and we have been lucky enough to have gone on 7 cruises.
So, I would say I have a great life here in OH-IO! Hope all is well with everyone else and they are enjoying life and their loved ones as much as me. Feel free to drop me a line whenever you get a chance. I'd love to hear how everyone is doing. I am still in touch with Gordon O'Rear (he is a CHP officer in San Diego), Dorothy Hoatson (she lives near Baltimore and is a teacher)& Dickson Kendrick (my ex-brother-in-law,he married my sister Anda-and is a computer nerd). SPARTANS FOREVER!!!
