Dawna's Story
Shortly after high school I married Rob Appel (Remember Mr. Appel - the history & driver's ed teacher? Yup, that's him.) We were married for 16 years & now we're not. Still great friends, though. In 1976 we moved to Michigan then Ohio and, in 1977, to Florida.
I lived in Florida for 12 years where I owned a nightclub & seafood company. Since I am an only child, when my parents both became ill, I moved back to Titusville to take care of them. Dad passed away in 2000. Mom is hanging in there and doing pretty good.
After returning to Pennsylvania I went back to college, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in psychology. I worked for a time in emergency psych, then left the field to work in the private sector.
For 25 years I was the Operations Manager for a multi-corporate group; the E & K Group, headquartered just south of Titusville. One division of our company man...Expand for more
ufactures winches and hoists for the marine and construction industries. I retired in January of 2020.
I am also the General Manager for a 16,000 square foot restaurant / nightclub; Timber Lake Lodge, located three miles south of Titusville on State Route 8 at the former Windy Hill Farms which is currently closed due to the pandemic.
In 2020 my first novel, Check Out Time, was published. It is available through Amazon.
Politically I'm still a few degrees left of top dead center ... some things never change. I travel a lot for both work and pleasure; mostly within the US but, on occasion, out of the country. I've spent some time in Russia as well as a few other places, but I really like this part of the world.
That's about it for the past 40 years or so ... there was a bunch of other stuff that happened in between, but most of it isn't worth mentioning.
