Jean's Story

Life I have been living in Oklahoma since 1967, with tours of military duty in Korea and VietNam. I retired from the army in 1972 as a Chief Warrant Officer, CW4. and have been involved in the heating and air conditioning trade as a technician and self employed Mechanical Contractor. I am now semi-retired from that also. My mother turned 100 years of age last April and is living with my niece in Deforest, Wisconsin. My wife and I visited her in September of last year. My sole surviving child is a nurse at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and lives in Harrisburgh. A good share of my time is spent on church and other local community service projects, such as Habitat for Humanity and an organization called, "Rebuilding Together", which helps less advantaged people over 65 repair and restore their run down property. Old people go. Ne classmates website has me listed as Jean Morris, Class of 1948, due to an error that was made on my birth certificate. During all of my school years I was, and still am called by what is left of my family, DEAN MORRIS. Only when I enlisted in the army in 1952, when it was necessary to show a copy of my birth certificate, did I find out that the doctor had written JEAN instead of DEAN on the certificate. I will turn 80 in September, still reasonably healthy, but retired for the 3rd time. Still look at the old yearbooks when I played football and basketball at Ladysmith high. I have some very fond memories that come to surface about those days. Things were much different then. We played poker in Louie Matins garage. Put beer bottles in the hand of the WW! soldier statue in the park. Occasionaly drank a bit at the swimming beech. Spiked the punch at the Jr Prom in 1947. Alcoholic beverages were the only drugs to contend with. Coke was Coca Cola, weed was what we had to clean out of the vegetable garden. The girls were beautiful without exposing all their female anatomy. I guess I am just old and somewhat reminiscent. Dean
