Deanna's Story

Life There really is too much to write in such a small space about "life". Upon graduating from LCSS I went to a Christian college in Abbotsford for 4 years (during which time I travelled extensively throughout Europe and Asia), followed by the most amazing experience of living and teaching in India for one year. In 1999 I met my husband Steve in Israel/Syria where we were both peacekeeping with the UN. Quite a fabulous story! I have since spent 5 years combined at SFU and UBC, and am now teaching part time at Middle School in the lower mainland public system. Steve and I welcomed twin daughters into the world in January 2006: Jerusha & Alivia, fraternal twins. Needless to say they have been the centre of our lives and bring great joy to us~! e - specifically Middle School, is such a rewarding career. I love the preteen age group (grades 6-8) where kids are just beginning to think critically about the world around them. It's wonderful to be part of their world at such a crucial turning point in their lives! Military I joined the Army Reserves in 1990 when I completed a 10 week basic training boot camp in Vernon. I never thought that I would actually stay as part of the Reserves after that summer, but in the end, I loved the challenge and meeting people from such diverse walks of life! After returning from serving overseas with the United Nations in 2000, I released as Master Corporal Sanddar. Reflecting back, I'd have to say that my military experiences have been hugely influential in my character development!
