Debbie Butt
Debbie joined the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL in 2005 as Director of Community Partnerships and Executive Director of the Canucks for Kids Fund. Debbie directs all aspects of the partnership programs in the community in the areas of children's health and wellness, grassroots hockey development and literacy and education. The Canucks for Kids Fund is the foundation of the Vancouver Canucks responsible for raising over $2.4 million in 2005-06 for children's charities in British Columbia.
Prior to joining the Canucks, Debbie was the Director of Communications for four years for the BC Lions Football Club covering all aspects of media relations and the key liaison to national and local media. Prior to football, Debbie worked as Director of Media Relations for the Vancouver Grizzlies of the NBA where she was part of the communications department for over six years a...Expand for more
nd travelled with the team to all their games on the road throughout North America. She joined the Grizzlies from a public CD-ROM and computer software developer where she was Director of Communications. The 40-year-old also worked as a sports journalist with Canadian Press wire service in Toronto and as an account executive with a Vancouver public relations firm in the resource sector.
Debbie completed her B.A.A. in journalism from Ryerson Polytechnical University after graduating from the University of British Columbia in Human Kinetics (B.P.E.). Debbie is a two-time Ironman Canada finisher and volunteers her time with Dunbar Minor Soccer, the PAC Committee of Queen Elizabeth Annex, a Board member of the Communications Commitee for BC Children's Hospital Foundation,and a Board member of YVR Golf for Kids event. She and her husband, Pat Brady have two sons Riley, 6 and Toryn 3.
