Life
Life has changed a lot since Pulaski. After college I met and married Kevin Kane (Aquinas '76) and we have 4 kids, Kathleen (26), Conor (24), Brianne (22), and Liam (19) who kept us busy with Cane*ettes, baseball, cross country, indoor track, cheerleading, band, and theater among other stuff as they were growing up. Kati graduated from the Coast Guard Academy, Conor from West Point, and Brianne from UCONN. Liam will graduate from West Point in 2020. Up until Liam grew taller than me I was lucky enough to be a stay at home mom. Best thing EVER! I currently teach 6th grade at Pulaski (once a General, always a General), and regularly have flashbacks as I walk into different classrooms.
Its been 7 1/2 years since we moved back to NB. We lived in Simsbury for 14 years but after a classmate of Conor's threatened to kill him (twice) in 2008 and neither the parents, school administration nor school board took it seriously, we decided to put our children's safety first. a baseball bat? You can see why we didn't want to take any chances. So much for zero tolerance in Simsbury.
Its a good thing our new house has 2 acres since we currently have 2 cats and 4 dogs (mom and dad husky and 2 of their 7 children). At various points we have had hamsters, gerbils, and birds as well. I draw the line at rats and snakes. We have even raised baby bunnies, hamsters and gerbils. At our new place we are often visited by deer, birds, geese, beavers and a snapping turtle and her brood. Its not the kids we had to worry about bringing home strays, it was me.
In my spare time I take photographs (I'm obsessive) and scrapbook them, visit the kids (NYC, Kansas, Texas, USMA), follow the Red Sox (Kevin's a Yankee fan so it makes for an interesting life), Patriots and Huskies (this is husky country, after all), and watch some reality shows Brianne introduced me to. I also have a tendency to paint: not canvasses, rooms. Kevin never knows when he's going to come home to a brand new color somewhere in our house. What can I say? I like change.
