Deborah's Story
Life
I am lucky to be alive!! Lots of education, work, adventure, several serious mishaps, and currently living in San Francisco Bay area. After a successful career in law, politics and business, I retired early. Still busy in many endeavors, but no day in and day out grind. I am a glass artist- maybe the Corning influence- fusing and blasting glass. I get more tool magazines than home magazines. I also own a solar installation company. My home has been powered by PV panels since 2000. I mediate guardianship cases regularly for our local Superior Court.
My two only daughters are a great Joy- Rachael is back in lawschool- after a brief stint right after college. She went on to earn a dual masters in special ed and english and taught 5 years in NYC, Guatemala, New Orleans post Katrina and is now back in lawschool on a public interest law scholarship. Her sister, 7 years younger is still an undergraduate in microbiology. Sierra is a huge animal caretaker.
After Binghamton, I graduated from U of B, Temple U, Delaware Law School, plus lot of extra education at Harvard, Center for Creative Leadership and Ph.d studies in organiza...Expand for more
tional leadership.
I worked at a number of different jobs; bail officer, assistant superintend of schools, congressional aide, governor's aide, criminal prosecutor and 20 plus years as a corporate attorney, lobbyest and executive with Dupont. I also taught ethics and corporate goverance in 3 MBA programs across the county parttime.
I been an Unitarian since 1972- sometimes active, sometimes less so. It works for me.
I flunked roofing 101 by taking a header onto a brick sidewalk and spent lots of time recovering from a Traumatic Brain Injury. Thus retired early from the corporate rat race, I have grown in many different areas. One area of enrichment is the local Bosnian refugee community, they appreciate a free lawyer and I love the food, dancing and inclusion into their local culture.
Men- have enriched my life- serially. I am now married to a nice Jewish psychiatrist- Howard Weisman.
My life feels like a mountain stream journey- sometimes still calm water, more ofter rough water while ocasionally I have been tossed out of the boat. I am grateful to still being adventurous and curious.
I hope your life has been mostly happy.
