Deborah's Story
It's been a while since i visited this site -- was just checking in to see if I should end the stream of emails! Thanks to those of you who remember me. I think they charge too much, and for the price are far too limiting. Oh well. Everyone likes to make money!
I'm now living upstate in NY, not far from my daughter, Liz. My other two grown children (Nica and James), live at the beach in So Cal, not far from where they grew up. I posted some recent pictures taken while my son was visiting for a week over the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Widowed in 1996, graduated from UCLA in 1998 (B.A., English Lit), then nearly completed my Masters' at Cal State Dominguez Hills (Secondary Education). I taught for LAUSD for several years, and have worked in many other fields over the years. It's crazy how the years go by, and interesting to see pictures posted by some of you.
One of the best things about Upstate NY is the open roads in the country, and being able to visit small towns and villages. A couple of years ago I bought an 883 Sporty, and have enjoyed riding with friends. Though one of the worst things for me is the usually over-abundant snow, this year has been amazing with higher than normal temps (yesterday it was in the high 50s and mostly sunny, though it rained some in the morning). Of course, by midnight it was in the 20s!

resting adventure, but now I can say "been there, done that" and don't see visiting there any time again soon. Fresh apple cider in the fall, low prices on milk (subsidized), and feeling as if you have traveled back in time ten or more years are also enjoyable. The moist air over the months when it is not bitter cold out helps keep the skin looking youthful! It's ironic to hear people complain about traffic when they encounter three vehicles at a stop sign, and most of the cities here have not figured out how to move traffic effectively but the 'rush hour' is really only about an hour and drivers make L.A. look easy to navigate. Making the transition to driving here was crazy as in the winter street signs covered with snow and very few streetlights cofounded me the first couple of years. Never needed GPS in So Cal...
The State Fair is grossly over-rated ~ hahaha ~ but for car enthusiasts, the Nationals bring many visitors from all over to show their antique/collectible cars. Note: it is hot with little shade, food and beverages pricey, food quality sketchy at best, and parking is miserable. No, this is not NYC or anything like it!
Hope those who took the time to read this are laughing at least a little, and thanks for stopping by. If you write back over the next few months I'm likely to see it and will respond.
Happy New Year to all ~
