Deborah's Story
2012: Sold the house in NY, doubled my investment & bought a new one here; on my own land. Replaced shed for a big, Amish-built one for my power tools and camping stuff.
Even though I miss the big city life, and the pampering, I finally decided that I need to get my old ass back out into the world. So, I bought a big van and built my camper. Its insulated, wooden sides & carpeted all around. Yes, I could have bought an RV but it's too much work (sold the first one). So much easier to plug in & vent the AC on the console, The TV/DVD works great & I send updates to my family & friends.
June 2016: Traveled across I 70, south to N.M. to visit my best friend (over 35 yrs.), west to CA., and up to the Olympic Peninsula in WA.
Driving & camping, for 8200 miles, with my 2 little dogs and meeting the friendliest people from around the country was the best trip so far.
FYI... No GPS, just a map book, camping guides and simply showed up to ask for a space. Whether in a tent or a million dollar RV, the people I have met on my camping trips have always been the best! Fancy hotel guests? Uh, not so much. But, there are times when I really miss Room Service!
Back on the road in Sept. and not sure exactly where. Oh well...
Life
The most important event in my life made me realize how much time I have wasted! After 9/11, when I lost my career, I decided that nobody can pay me enough to go back to my Nerd-life! (Still love NYC!)
I have moved...Expand for more
to the beach with my Yorkies & no money (2 corporate pensions, 401k, but not until I'm 70 1/2!). My life is now centered on my dogs, the beach and the perfect sales job - since I am an evil customer, I can deal with anyone!
Love it here and can finally get a good tan! What a life!
Love to All! Keep in touch! **GRINDL**
UPDATE! Have my Interior Decorator's certificate but the new career is on hold. Currently, I am the Assistant Manager of an indoor storage facility and the Manager wants to retire. The storefront next door is for rent and I'm planning on combining the 2 businesses. Could be cool!
UPDATE: I have not been on this website for a very long time since so much has happened. My stepson was in jail, my husband kept it from me, things happened, and, in Sept. 2011, hubby was in hospital with brain cancer. I made sure that I was there to hold his hand when he was released from his pain and went to God.
PLEASE! After all that I have been through by dealing with someone, especially a relative, who dies without a will, you all really need to make your final plans now. Don't let your family spend years trying to figure it all out!
UPDATE: My Mother's long-time boyfriend & housemate has recently passed away and she will have to lose her home, in the Poconos, and declare bankruptcy. This is a direct result of home ownership, for 34 yrs., and living way beyond their means. She actually owes more than the home is worth!
