Deanna's Story
Downsizing, 2019
The life adventure continues. starting with selling the farm in 2016. Purchased a small house in 2017 that I think I can handle on my own. So now I am on the NO animal diet – feels absolutely strange as I have always had a dog by my side, and a horse since I was in high school, now what ? Well, the answer is --- it’s gramma time! Son and his girlfriend had a little girl in May 2018, so I get gramma trips now to NC. Convinced daughter to join me from MA after school got out last year and we enjoyed 10 days together with all of us. Son’s GF has two other small girls, the oldest started kindergarten. So the count begins! Now have 3 with my son, and my SO has 3 with his son, one with his daughter who will also be having twins July 2nd, so that is now 9. And this fall my daughter announced she was going to foster a young boy that she had known and this year I got to meet him, so that makes 10. And...Expand for more
next week she will be getting his 3 yo little sister, so now the count is up to 11. I always wondered how my mom kept track of so many of us kids when we started having them, and now I still can’t imagine. And of course, they all want quilts !
Since I no longer have the farm, I still keep myself outside by gardening, either fruits, veges or flowers with lots of color. Thinking of a cherry tree on a fence this year,like in the days of the colonial kitchen garden. I now stay flexible by swimming 6 days a week, every morning before work at 5:30, There aren’t many beaches in the middle of the country, so I have to find them when I leave town.
Seeing profiles and names, I still see us on the quad. on the lawn with guitars, running down the covered areas, concerts, Mr A, my dad taping all of those concerts, marching band. slamming lockers, and the next reunion is how many years ??
