Delmar's Story

Life I have been in the construction industry since about 1 year out of high school. It has treated me well so I could get my two kids raised. Now they are gone and on their own. Yahoo, my life is good. Now I'm single (13 years this year 2007) and it is my time to keep going forward. I am currently a general contractor and do mostly remodeling and repair work. I will occasionally do a small edition. My main hobbies are mountain biking, cross country biking, photography, and growing tropical plants. I like traveling, (preferably Hawaii) fitness and healthy cooking. I love to go camping. Anywhere is good. I am getting itchy feet to travel more now that I am free to do so. When I was 19 years old I decided to take a one way trip to Hawaii with some friends to go and get away from a tough boss I had (but he is one of my best friends today). I was there for about two weeks when I met this christain guy who told me about Jesus in a way that I never learned in the catholic church. I decided I wanted what he had and asked Jesus to be my own personal saviour. I have had a very interesting relationship with God through the years and he has helped me through some very rough times including a very ugly marraige. With that crazy mess behind me I then continued to persue my construction skills and business skills. I also was very involved in finishing raising my kids and being a big part of their lives. It was hard through their teen years but I just kept loving them. It has paid off in a big way. My son who is now 26 as of 2006 works for me in my business and has three kids of his own. My daughter who is now 24 as of 2006 also works for me on a part time basis and is very active in the Airforce Reserves. I don't know why she didn't just go in full time because she volunteers for every tropical duty. I am now 48 as I am sure most of you are too (ha ha ha). I still ride bikes once in a while and also love to hike and camp. I have been into fitness most of my life and int...Expand for more
o healthy eating for the last 25 years, and I am currently a vegan vegetarian and have been for 17 years. I also like building greenhouses and working in them to grow food or other hobby plants. I have 40 papaya trees and 20 different palm trees including 1 live coconut. When they get too tall they are worth some extra change and I can start a new one and enjoy it for a while. I also have a few other types of tropical plants and the list keeps changing on what I have at any given time. I give a lot of plants as presents. It can be overwhelming some times. I am currently in the Monroe area in Snohomish county. I have been here for about 9 years. I like the area but hate the weather. But we do have some good days once in a while. I like to do things that are simple and fun. Back to nature activities are my favorite. Camping, hiking, bicycling, gardening, sitting at the beach, maybe a corn maze in the fall. But I also like performance cars and late model high tech gadgets. some of this stuff these days is too cool. I have been through 6 Harley Davidsons and a small hand full of other brands of motorcycles. I used to do custom painting and graffics and gold leafing on all my bikes and customer bikes. It was a really fun experience for many years. I just one day woke up and said that was it. I sold it all and never looked back. Funny how we change like that. I also built some fun choppers back when choppers were'nt cool yet. I also used to build some fun cars. The old stuff we grew up with. I wish like we do at times that I would have kept a few of those. Who could believe the cars we threw away would be worth more than our houses in some cases. Good old hind sight. It would be nice to hear from a few old friends from the past to see how life has treated everyone. Once in a while I run into someone and reminiss about old times and life experiences. It is good to see what has become of some of us. We're just older kids. LOL Would love to hear from my old buddies
