delores's Story

Delores Fisher is a resident Artist/Teacher with the Center For world Music and a lecturer who teaches and performs historic Black folk music and lectures on its socio-cultural historical contexts. She holds a B.A. degree in the Humanities and an M.A. degree in Music (musicology) from San Diego State University, is Dance Studio Piano Faculty (ballet class) for the SDSU School of Music and Dance, and lectures on African-American music in the SDSU Africana Studies Department. She is an SDSU Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society Executive Board Member. Jazz Band. Her first published poem appeared in a Kenmore School District Anthology. Her poetry is published in the States as well as overseas. Poet, essayist/ blogger and musician, her credits include theatrical productions, two Internet Blogs, Cable TV, numerous MC/Hosting appearances, two CD sound-scapes for poet Jim Moreno: “Palms Up” on A Question From Love, and “Encounter In Reno” on Reversing the Erased, Exhuming the Expunged. Her book of poetry "From the Meadows of Beyond" is in the West Coast Zines Collection of the Special Collections Department at SDSU. She lectures at various universities and schools throughout the San Diego CA. area.
