Delton's Story
Hi Everyone,
Mary Murphy from our 1963 class have been married 47 years this year-(both second marriages) since 1976. We have 5 kids as well and 13 grand kids. 3 girls and 10 boys. I was in the US Navy after School from 1963-1967. Gunners Mate Missile GMM3 Aboard the USS RICH DD-820 Home ported in Norfolk, VA, The photo on this website that Big square box launcher between the two stacks was my Rate aboard Anti-Submarine Missiles (ASROC).
While aboard my ship we visited 30 to 35 ports of call and almost as many countries. From Bergen, Norway to ,Mombasa, Kenya--Both ways thru the Suez's canal twice and over the Equator...Expand for more
twice. Rome, London and Paris some of the high points. After that lived in Rapid City, Billings, Mt and now Spokane, WA. I worked as Field Service Tech. for a Bank computer co. and two Electronic Sign Co. and traveled to all 50 states except Maine--also Japan, Canada, and Porta Rico. Most of my life has been a travel-log, but I love it! Big cities New York to San Francisco Miami to Anchorage, AK. and small towns like Rugby, N.D. to Thermopolis, Wyo. Mary and I will be flying to Pittsburgh, PA. the day before my birthday on the 24 of April. It will be the ships 30th reunion and my 18th for the USS RICH DD-820.
