Denise's Story

My "where have I lived" path goes like this: Born in Michigan, moved to Arizona at age 12, moved back to Michigan at age 14, moved back to Arizona at age 15, moved to New Jersey at age 34, then moved back to Arizona at age 36. I've been here ever since. It works out to about 27 collective years here in Arizona. As a result of so much moving around growing up, I averaged being in a different school once every two years. That sucked. I don't even remember the names of all the schools that I attended. I do know that I attened Alexander Hamilton Elementary twice. First, when I was in K through 2nd grade, then 4th & 5th grade. I really need to dig out my old year books! I'm single, have no children, but I do have one kitty named Punkin. I guess it would be fair to say that she is my fur child. I do believe that children are amazing, have so much to teach us, and they have a capacity to love unconditionally. There is much to be learned from listening and watching children grow. There are a few people from my past that I would really like to see again. The person that comes to mind first is Brian Mecke, from Sunnyslope High School, because he was a great friend and always treated me with respect. Another person is Kelly, from Desert View. I can't remember her last name, but she has a southern accent and I still have the key ring she gave me with her picture in it. There are a couple of people that I am making my goal to find, because I have something very important to tell them. One person is Sara, from Desert View and I believe Sunnyslope High as well. I don't remember her last name either. I think she hung around with a girl named Kim Fields. The other person is Barbie, which I believe her real name is Barbara Wallace or Walters or something close to that. I knew her back in Michigan when I was a little girl. She was about 3-4 years younger than me, and I was probably between the ages of 7-11 when I knew her. I think she used to live right next door to us on Ridgebrook, and again not too far from us when we lived on Pickett, in the Grand Rapids area. Out of all the teachers I have had throughout my school days, I would most like to see Mr. Craig Wood, who was either my 4th or 5th grade science teacher at Alexander Hamilton Elementary in Grand Rapids,...Expand for more
Michigan. I think! LOL. All I remember is that he reminded me of a young Abraham Lincoln, how kind he was, that he smoked a pipe, and that he made learning so enjoyable. He took his classes on some pretty awesome field trips. He was a solid person that I could look up to, during a very difficult time in my life. Now it has me thinking, maybe I should look him up one of these days. Lord willing, he is still alive, and if not then he definitely has the better end of the stick. My first crush was either in kindergarten or first grade, and his name is Chad Curths from Alexander Hamilton Elementary. I have absolutely no idea what ever became of him. Hopefully he is healthy, happy, and enjoying life. My first payroll job was at an apartment complex, where I got paid a flat rate to clean vacant apartments. What I remember most about it is some of the tenants left their apartments TRASHED. I'm a certified EMT-B (volunteer) and licensed Aesthetician (for fun nowadays). I work for a hospice organization, which provides end-of-life care to patients with a projected life expectancy of 6 months of less to live. I've been there almost 6 1/2 years now and really enjoy it. When I was a little girl I wanted to be a stewardess when I grew up. My mom thought that was a pretty good idea because I loved to fly on airplanes. As it turns out, I changed my mind many times on what I wanted to be when I grow up. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up! LOL. Some of the things that I enjoy are going on long drives, auto & boat shows, shooting pool, car hops, comedy clubs, home shows, supercross, art galleries, demolition derbies, tattoo expos, dancing, parasailing, snowmobile riding, home shows, museums, cruises, monster jam shows, paddleboating, etc. I am an avid supporter of law enforcement, firefighters, paramdics, emts, and of our U.S. Military branches. I currently have a nephew serving in the U.S. Air Force and I am very proud of him! And of course, I LOVE spending time with my best friends and family. Ultimately, I believe in loving like you've never been hurt, and forgiving as if nothing happened. I don't believe in chance, luck, karma, astrology or superstition. I believe in God & that all good and bad things happen FOR a greater good and for a reason.
