Denise's Story

Life I'm pretty happy in my life right now. I had a "guy" job for awhile which was so funny and so unlike me, lol. I loved it!!!! I did quit for the summer to care for my 9 year old (I have a 19 year old as well). The thing I've learned the most about life is that it's really rough and that you always have to do what feels the best for "you". To hold true to yourself and what you feel is right for you. More importantly you have to have a sense of humor and no matter how rough it is or how many times you get knocked down you have to hang in there and keep going, no matter how many times you have to lift yourself off the floor. Life is what you make of if. It may not be the way you want it to be but it's yours to do with the best you can, for always! School I didn't really have any "big" crushes for guys that went to our school (although Tom Hopkins (?) <Roger's brother> was adorable!!! LOL). I mostly ent for those that didn't go to our school. None of the teachers inspired me. Being the younest sister of two trouble making siblings I had it really rough with the teachers and my counsler which was Mr. Harris. I did really like Mr. Matherson. He didn't judge me on who I was related to and was a great teacher, although by the time I had him I had basically given up getting a good education at that school and was no longer as shy and quiet as I once was. Not that I ever really caused trouble. I was a loner. But I was bad for not bringing my books and stuff to his class and for chewing gum. (What can I say I got a kick out of his sentences and how many pencils I could write with at a time, lol). I would never, in a million years, ever go back, LOL!!!! One of the funniest things that happened was that I snuck out of the girls locker room to have a smoke and had a pencil holding the door open and the pencil broke! Needless to say I got caught going outside. I forget what happened to me because of it. I use to leave school at lunchtime from time to time before they buckle...Expand for more
d down on guarding the doors and walked to that store on 10 Mile. Once on our way back a car lightly backed into me. I wasn't hurt but that lady kept following us asking me over and over if I was okay. I told her I was but she wouldn't go away. We were so scared that she was going to get us caught. Workplace When I was suddenly forced to be a single mom of 2 it was really rough! I never went to collage and didn't finish my Accounting Classes for financial reasons so I had no "real" training for landing a "good", nice paying job. Living in a small town there are very few oppertunities available and I really, really, really HATE fast food so I signed up with a temp service in the next big town and was sent to The Bluegrass Station to work. I was told very little abut the job except for the hours (which were wrong) and the pay. I was told that I may have to do some occassional mowing but mostly I would be working with a cleaning and maintenance crew. It was a job and it would bring in something so I took it and OMGosh!!!! I was the ONLY GIRL and it was an outside maintenance job where we ALWAYS cut grass, weedeated, planted stuff, everything along those lines. Imagine my surprise, now imagine the surprise of the 11 guys who worked out of our maintence crew to have a "girl" working there. Don't take this wrong but I am a girl-girl. You know, nails, hair, make-up, etc. I also am slightly allergic to the sun, which I worked out in all day and the gras which I was in al day, LOL!!! I loved it it was an amazing experience and I learned so much in the past 13 months and it's so funny to think of all of the changes that not only I went through but how the maintenance crew I worked with changed (they discovered how nice it is to have paper towels around in the break room and my lotion was used an awful lot, lol!!!). I don't know what is on the list next for now I am working for my Honey (doing books and stuff for his business) but I really don't want to keep on doing that after school starts up again in August.
