Dennis's Story
Life
I graduated from Circle Campus (University of Illinois at Chicagao) in 1973 with a bachelor's degree.
Curently, I am a teacher in the Chicago Archdiocese. Also, I am going for my Master's Degree in Business at Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee. I am doing this with the intent of changing careers in mid-life. Another pursuit of mine, is writing short stories, I take classes in this and I send off manuscripts to editors. Looking back over the years there were a lot of interesting stories and characters in Chicago Heihgts when I was growing up. Those events and people have given me plenty of material to write about.
For the last 17 summers I have been a beer vendor at Comiskey Park and Wrigley Field. Plus, I have a beer stand at Solider's Field for the Bears Games. Sometimes, I wiil work a Balckhawks or Bulls game at the United Center. So, if you are going to a game look for me (red hair and glasses) and buy one.
Thank you for your interest.
If I won $100 million, I'd give most it of it to St. Jude Hospital ...Expand for more
in Memphis, then spend the rest on family, house and very long vaction.
Proably the most stylish thing I still like from high school is that I just can not buy a dress shirt that is not button down. Otherwise, i have grown as a fashion plate.
My oldest friend is Jim Zagone. We met at St. Liborius School in Mrs. Rutkowski's class in 1961. I remember walking with him to the Steger Flower Shop and getting a ride home in the flower delivery van, from his Dad (Joe Sr.) or getting a red from his mom Juliette, in her Blue Chevy wagon. In fact the "then" picture ( it is an old b&w Polaroid) in my Classmates profile was taken by Jim on Otto Boulevard, close to the Chicago Heights Star offices. Where Saturday and Wednesday nights you could watch them actually print the paper. Jim lives in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, now. He recently , lost his wife, Mary, to a stroke. We do not talk often, but when we do , it is like i just saw him yesterday. I am grateful in my life, that I was able to have a friend like Jim and to know the Zagone family.
