Dennis's Story
I spent five years figuring out how to get a four year degree from the University of Washington but did eventually find myself teaching for one year at Kellogg Junior High School in the Shoreline District. The students were great, the teaching not so bad, but the compensation came up short. By the fall of 1968 I was back in graduate school.
After leaving the University of Washington again - this time with my MBA, I devoted 11 years and one marriage working for the Olympia Brewing Company. A more resilient second marriage, on the other hand, has survived seven years at Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, four years at Hewlett-Packard in the Silicon Valley, three years at Kyocera in San Diego, eight years with IBM in New York, and the past seven years working less than fulltime for Directions Research of Cincinnati while living on a lake in western Minnesota...Expand for more

With something resembling retirement approaching (encroaching) in the next few months, my wife and I are looking at downsizing and selling either one or both of our side-by-side homes on the lake in Alexandria, MN and returning west where we have six grandchildren - three in Newcastle, WA and three in Rocklin, CA. We reached this decision in the past few weeks as we returned from 24 weeks on the road - three visits to both sets of grandkids with five weeks on the Big Island and thirteen weeks in the Coachella Valley sandwiched in between.
When the fiftieth reunion rolls around we may still be in Minnesota or maybe Hawaii or Palm Springs. San Luis Obispo and other Central California spots are still also on the short list. Our thirty years together (we were the newlyweds at the 20th) has been marked by a lot of work, a lot of travel, and a lot of fun.
