Dennis's Story
Life
Graduated from Lutheran HS in '81. Went to Concordia College, NE and graduated in '85. Taught 5th grade for 3 yrs before returning to Concordia, NE. Graduated in '90 with MS in Parish Education.
Got married to the most AWESOME woman, Nikki Dunse, on June 16, 1990. She is my best friend, as well as the mother of our two children, Jonathan (12) and JuliAnne (10). We live in Orlando, FL.
After MS at Concordia, I worked at St John Lutheran Church as the Dir. of Children's Ministries. Served there for 13 years. I was like a "firefighter" for them, serving wherever they had needs. Served 6-1/2 yrs as Dir. of Youth/Family Ministry. Served 3 yrs as Director of Christian Education. Served 1 yr as interim-principal of the school, and have served 2 yrs as Dir. of Children's Ministries.
Published author (Dear Daddy, CPH, 1999) and article in "Chicken Soup for the Romantic Soul", (2003), along with numerous magazine articles, etc.. Teacher/Workshop Leader/Keynote Speaker at conventions. Dramatic portrayals. Loads of fun! Just released my first children's book in March 2007- The Goofy Principal at Silly School. Has turned out to be pretty popular- available on amazon.com.

d back to Orlando end of December 04. I'm still did some consulting but God decided I should be back serving a church so I served as the Director of Christian Education at Hope Lutheran in Orlando. My passion is writing and teaching parent classes.
After almost two years there, God led me to teach where J&J went to elementary school. I just completed second year teaching 4th grade. What a blast! Was voted teacher of the year by my colleagues. (Stunned! A goofball voted TOY?)
This next school year, I'll be back in the Lutheran Church circles again. I've been called to serve as the Director of Christian Education at Orlando Lutheran Academy. Jonathan will be in 7th grade there this year and JuliAnne will start there after she finishes 5th grade next year. I'll be teaching Theology classes.
Nikki is back with the YMCA. They are the reason we moved back. They've bounced her around to wherever there was a fire. First back, she developed a new position called Faith Based Initiatives Director. (FBI!) Then she was the Exec Dir at the Dowtown Orlando Y, the largest in the state. She was recently transferred to our neighborhood Y where she had served as Exec. Dir. before we went to GA. She's Exec. Dir. again and loves being closer to home. She tolerates my wacky sense of humor, which unfortunately is rubbing off on Jonathan and JuliAnne!
