Denny's Story
Life
After graduating from Glynn Academy, I attended Brunswick Junior College (now Coastal Georgia Community College) and graduated in 1967. I then went to Georgia Southern for a short while, intending to be an English teacher (hey, English was easy to me, and I liked the idea of three months off each year!). But Uncle Sam got a hold of me and I joined the U.S. Army - fortunately not having to go to Viet Nam. Went to Germany for 26 months and met my wife-to-be there - an American girl from Illinois visiting her brother who was stationed in the same area.
One night when I was out with friends in downtown Heidelberg, Germany, I was walking to the men's room of a local restaurant and walking out of the men's room was one Joe Jetton! We recognized each other immediately and spent some time together - talk about a small world!
After the Army stint, I decided on a career change and went into accounting. Ended up getting a BBA in Accounting from Georgia Southern University in 1974. I worked for CPA Firms on St. Simons Island for six years and then started my own firm in December 1981. O...Expand for more
n November 1, 2007, I sold my CPA Firm to Moore Stephens Tiller LLC - they have offices in Atlanta, Brunswick, Lawrenceville, and now St. Simons Island. I work for them now and have a very flexible schedule. It's great!
We have three great children - Benjamin 30, Laura 26, and David 20. Benjamin has recently enrolled in the Blue Ridge School of Herbal Medicine, while Laura is a massage therapist, and David is a rising junior at my alma mater, Georgia Southern University.
Laura married Jeff Phillips in March of 2004, and they are now the proud parents of my first grandchild, Christopher Luke Phillips, who was born on 12/06/2005! My wife and I are very excited to say the least. He is a real doll and very smart - it's a lot of fund being a grandparent.
Life has been good in the Golden Isles - the area has grown like crazy, and prices on SSI are out of sight - thankfully, I bought a home and an office building long ago.
I've only missed the 10th (first) reunion, and hope to make many more - our 45th comes up in two years! - VERY hard to believe!
God bless you all!
