Life Derrick L. Woods "Profile" Derrick L. Woods, a transplant from Detroit, Michigan, has been a resident of Houston, Texas since 1988. Mr. Woods studied at the University of Michigan, majoring in Business Management and is a active member of the Houston Business & Professional Men’s Club and several other civic and action related organizations. He and his wife, Dana attend New Hope Community Church in NW Houston where he serves as one of the churches leaders and was recently appointed & ordained one of its Deacons. Mr. Woods currently holds Executive Board Member status on two (2) actively involved in community development foundations; one (1) within the Fort Bend County area more particularly within the city of Missouri City for the Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Foundation and the other is at his church, the City of Refuge-Houston, where the mission of both these foundations are similar and quite clear; raise the economic, educational and social levels for the residents of it’s surrounding community with notable emphasis focused on members of the minority communities who are substantially unemployed, undereducated, underemployed and/or whose income(s) may fall below federal poverty guidelines.
