Diane's Story
Life
I'm still a newlywed, enjoying married life. My husband is a technical writer and we are in the process of buying our first condo. I absolutely love Chicago and feel that I've found a home here, though there are days when I really miss the mountains. I got my Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's in Creative Writing. I work full time in continuing education at a local college and am trying to finish my first novel in my spare time and attempting to get my short stories published in various lit magazines. I still read a lot and love to attend theatre productions, though I haven't been on stage since high school. Otherwise my days are spent exploring Chicago, hanging out with my husband or playing with all my pets.

From Colorado to Kansas to Boston to Chicago -- pursuit of an education has taken me to some interesting cities and has lead me to some amazing friends and family. At KU, I met my future husband in a writing class and made some wonderful friends while living in Sellards Scholarship hall. In Boston, I had a wonderful opportunity to live on my own without a car and discovered how self-sufficient I could be while going to school and working full time. After two years of a long distance relationship, my fiance and I moved to Chicago to start our life together. It's been almost two years since I finished my Masters, so naturally I'm itching to go back for my PhD. Good thing there is an excellent program right here in Chicago. . .
