Dianne's Story

So, where to begin? I loved my days at Poly High and have nothing but great memories of my days there and the friends I knew. It was a great school and I played in band...yes, I was a band kid and Mr Sherry, band teacher extraordinaire, was the best! So...after graduation I worked as an operator for Pacific Bell. Quit got married, had a son and divorced. 4 years later, I then worked as a purchasing agent for an aircraft spare parts supplier in Burbank whose accounts were all overseas, got married again, had a daughter and divorced...beginning to see a pattern here! I worked as a draftsman for 5 years, that's what we were called then, for a sub contractor to the telephone company. And, finally wised up, was accepted into the 18 month training program for Psychiatric Technicians, passed California State boards and subsequently became licensed then worked for 10 years at Atascadero State Hospital. After an injury, not patient related, I moved to Saint George, Utah to be closer to my family and went back to school. I graduated with my AA from Dixie State College, then went to Southern Utah State University and graduated with a BA. Then, finally, I went on to work for Mental Health as a case manager/crisis worker for 21 years. In between there I met my husband, best friend and love and, we adopted my granddaughter (Sasha) and raised her (currently in her 4th year of college). Then, after 24 y...Expand for more
ears of life together, he died in a hunting accident rollover involving an ATV, 4 years ago. But, life is good, my Sasha is getting ready to graduate and I am almost 2 years into retirement, after some health challenges my family, and my Doc compelled me to do so...but hey, "Life is good"! I noticed that some of my classmates have had similar experiences/obstacles in their lives so I guess we are all survivors of sorts! I would love to hear from any "Arethesians" or "Poly Parrots" out there! Wishing you all peace, good health and more happiness than your shoulders can bear, Dianne Remembering my gone but not forgotten classmates: Stuntman Extraordinaire and always making me laugh, the handsome Dar Robinson passed away on November 21, 1986 from complications he sustained while doing a routine stunt on the movie "Million Dollar Mystery" in Moab, Utah...Rest well my friend, I will miss your contagious laugh! My good friend and band mate James "Jim" Pearce passed away from complications due to cancer on August 31, 2009...my world is a sadder place without him in it...Peace and Love my friend! Our wonderful Band Teacher and Mentor: " Mr. Gene Sherry" just passed away late last year on August 21, 2013...My world was a better place because of him and my "Band Room" friends and experiences. He was very giving and always made time for his students...he made me want to be a better person!
