Dick's Story
Life after Mercer Island High has been a 50-year whirlwind of moves and job changes that have crisscrossed the United States. I graduated from Washington State University (Go Cougs!), worked in Spokane, then moved back to Seattle working for Boeing while I earned an MBA and was hired by United Airlines in San Francisco where I married Sharon, my wife and the love of my life. We transferred to Chicago where we both worked, traveled worldwide and lived for 20 years before retiring from United Airlines.
We started new careers when the National Park Service (NPS) hired us both at Grand Teton Nati...Expand for more
onal Park in Jackson, WY. We then transferred to Washington D.C. where I was the Concessions Operations Chief for the National Mall overseeing all food & beverage service, the golf course and the tennis center there. We were transferred to the NPS Regional office in Lakewood, CO before finally retiring for good.
We play golf and tennis, enjoy traveling, and love watching pro golf tournaments and wine tasting. Besides golf and tennis, which I wished I had played in high school, I am passionate about upland bird and waterfowl hunting, I love to cook and enjoy gardening and outdoor photography.
