Dometrice's Story
Dear All,
I graduated from William Gaston In June of 1967. I entered Catholic University of America (Washington, DC)) in August of that same year. I majored in Engineering and finished my studies in the May 1972. I was drafted into the Army in August and served for a total of two (2) years as a Meteorological Observer (weatherman). I was stationed at Fort Jackson (Columbia, SC); Fort Sill (Lawton, OK); Yuma Proving Grounds (Yuma, AZ), Fort Benning (Columbus, GA), Fort Ord (Seaside, CA) and at Hunter Liggett Military Reservation (Jolon, CA). I was discharged from the service in August 1974.
In December of that same year, I was hired as an Aerospace Engineer at the Naval Air Rework Facility (NARF) at the Cherry Point Marine Air Facility (Havelock, NC) in December of 1974. In June of 1978...Expand for more
, I transferred to the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in Washington DC and started a career in Systems Acquisition. As an Acquisition Engineer, I worked on the procurement of some of the most sophisticated aircraft in the Navy¿s inventory. I later transferred to the Navy¿s Electronics Command and followed the job to the West Coast (San Diego, CA), where I retired in 2005 after a career spanning some 30 plus years.
Along the way, I got married and divorced¿and I recently re-married. I have two grown children and a granddaughter 4 years old.
I found retirement boring and recently accepted a job helping my friend build a company in San Diego, CA. I attended the last J. T. Barber Reunion (June 2007) and look forward to getting together with ex-classmates whenever the occasion arises.
