Don's Story

Before graduation, I had enlisted in the Delayed Entry Program for the Marine Corps. In August of ’61, I went to MCRD SD, and came home in July 1965. In 1966, I enrolled at Northrop Institute of Technology to start a 55 year aviation career, starting first as a licensed aircraft mechanic (A&P), and eventually becoming an instructor at the Cessna International Training Academy in Wichita, Kansas. I was later a Cessna Single and Multi-engine Service Rep for Africa and Middle East. While on a trip, I met, and subsequently married, my daughter’s mother in 1979. In 1980, I joined Texas International Airlines (which later became Continental Airlines) as a DC-9 Ground School Instructor. During the next 33 years, 9 months, and 25 days, I taught DC-9, MD-80, DC-10, and Boeing 737 ground sch...Expand for more

In addition to stand-up instruction, I recorded several CBT programs for Continental, as well as for other US and International carriers. I retired (as an EX-CON) from United in 2014, moved to Dubai, and began a 7 year adventure with Emirates CAE Flight Training in Dubai, UAE. The training was the same as with CAL / UAL, except the B-737 aircraft were all BBJ’s, (Boeing Business Jets!) Very nice! In June, 2020, COVID caused my position to become “…redundant...! We repatriated in October, 2020, and currently live in Spring, Texas. (If you have never been, put Dubai at the top of your BUCKET LIST!) Together, Mrs. C and I have 2 daughters; 1 grandson and 1!) granddaughter
