Don's Story

so, this is me. i was born the 5th of 6 sons to edward an hazel frascone. when i was born we lived in canton by the timken plant on 20th st sw an cleve. ave. i attended stark school from kindergarden to 2nd grade. the summer after 2nd grade our family moved to perry hts. we lived on carolina st, off genoa, half-way between lincolnway an 12th st nw. the allotment back then was still being built so much of the land between our house an sippo lake was still untouched....this, over the years, became our playground. there were plenty of kids in the neighborhood an having 5 other brothers it wasn't long till you met almost everyone. my grade school back then was watson, by doctors hosp. i started there in 3rd grade. as i grew older an was allowed to explore more of my surrounding area it wasn't long before my stomping ground was kmart to the west, mellet mall to the east, southway an genoa to the south an 12th an genoa to the north. at edison jr. high i reached my teenage years and of course started on my way to becoming me. some of my favorite places back then were pollen's on lincolnway, schuman drugs, kmart, stark drive-in, frank's pizza, charlie's, sippo lake, mellett mall....just to name a few. then of course it was off to the big times...perry high school. most of the friends i met way back in 3rd grade were still there, with a blend of new friends along the way. it was these years that i, like everyone else, started to experience with the life around us. sex, drugs an rock-n-roll. looking back now i'd have to say those were indeed the glory days of my youth. we had a great run of years with our football teams, federal leauge champs an a perfect season one year if i remember right. i loved going to the games on friday nites, hanging out back behind the stands an lighting one up...lol. by then i had gotten my 1st car that i shared with my brother kelvin. there was no stopping us then, the road to life was now open. after our jr. year, my brother kelvin received his draft notice. since he was a year old...Expand for more
er than most of us an didn't like school that much anyways, decided to enlist in the navy like our older brothers had done. since i had shared my life an friends with kelvin since 3rd grade i decided it was best if i tagged along for this journey also. at 17 1/2 i was on deck of the uss. lawrence, fighting off the coast of n.vietnam...didn't see kelvin again for 4 years. i ended up getting 9 medals, traveled most of the world an met a great group of guys who i refer to as "my band of brothers". once i got out of the navy in 1976 i returned to canton. lived on hazellett an 4th by mckinley mounument. mostly partied with sum friends till the blizzard hit. i then moved out to san jose, calif an attended college there while helping out my older brother chuck, who had remained in calif. after he got out of the navy. one thing adds to another, school, meet new people, see new sights an of course, jobs. i had only planned to attend college then return to ohio. life has a way of getting in your way an it was some 15 years later that i finally returned back home to ohio. my dad died in 1984, the year i started my career job at fedex. he was a lifetime employee of republic steel in canton. by 1995 my mom started getting sick so i was able to transfer within my job with fedex, so i came home to take care of her. she passed in 1999 so i moved to where i am now...down in waynesburg with my brother ken. chuck is still in san jose, gary is out in massillon, scott is in east sparta an kelvin, well he ended up in magnolia. i retired from fedex march 2010 after 27 years service...everyday is a saturday...lol. i still keep in touch with a few of my navy buddies an of course sum ole school an work friends. if after reading this you remember any of my brothers, or me, an wanna say hello, you can reach me at thor55aolcom or my cell three three zero nine four nine six six zero two......Update....In 2012 I bought a house in Canton on Carlton Ave NW. Also that year my brother Kenny died. Went to Perry's 40th & 45th reunions.
