Don's Story
I graduated from Bemidji State College in1965 with a BS degree Industrial Arts. I took a job in Meced , California then enlisted in the United States Navy when I was drafted in 1967. Following training as an Electronic Technician I was assigned to t;he Navy Communication Center in Kodiak, Alaska for 1 year. My next assignment was leading ET on the USS Embattle, an ocean going minesweeper. We patrolled the DMZ in Veit Nam then returned to Long Beach as a training ship for Navy Reserves. omplete a Masters Degree in Industrial Arts. I also joined the Navy Reserve and completed 20 years in 1992. My civilian career developed in private vocational rehabilitation counseling focusing on industrially injured workers. i started my own company in 2006 and retired December 31, 2012 after selling the company to my minority partners. I plan to spend more time at the family farm at McIntosh in the wood shop and maybe escape to Texas or Arizona for a couple of weeks in January each year to enjoy country-western dancing with my partner, Sharon.
