Don's Story
Life
Life:
I have been married 19 years to Linda, a beautiful California girl. We have 3 great children, two girls, and a boy.
Work:
After graduation from St. Mary's College I took a job teaching Math and Science at St. Isadore's in Danville, CA. I was also the football coach, basketball coach, and track coach...which was pretty funny as the only sports I ever actually participated in were cross country and crew.
After doing the starving teacher thing for 2 years I decided on a career in Optometry and eventually graduated from U.C. Berkeley. I bought a private practice in Walnut Creek, CA and hung out my shingle. A couple of years later I was recruited to do clincal research for the contact lens industry. That job sent us to Sunnyvale, CA then to Rochester, NY, and allowed me to travel over the world as a Director at B&L.
I was able to see mainland China, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, and traveled all over Europe. We were living in Roc...Expand for more
hester, NY and tired of the cold, so we moved to Phoenix last year to warm up. I opened a new office which quickly became a busy eye clinic in Sun City West, then added a second office in Peoria, AZ. We bought a home in an area called Cave Creek, north of Scottsdale, added two dogs (schnauzer and westy), and settled into desert life.
I love to run on the nearby desert trails, and on weekends where there is a bit of time between the kids activities, and sports, I take my mountian bike or road bike into the hills near our home for a long ride.
Update: 10/16/08 Both my youngest have their drivers permits so I must be getting old! Linda has returned to school to start nursing and I remain busy in my practice (scweyecare.com) and continue to do clincal research for two vision care companies.
